Character Education FREEBIES

Happy Holidays, friends!
With all the hustle & bustle that this season sometimes brings...shopping, baking, crafting, mailing, decorating, etc., I like to turn it down a notch by helping my kiddos remember how to be the BEST ME.
I came up with some quick and easy activities focused on some of the character traits/qualities found in most Character Education programs/curriculums. Even if your school doesn't specifically teach these traits, I love the idea of incorporating these simple holiday-themed activities into your days leading up to the holiday break. Many of them take no more than 20 minutes are can be done individually and/or in groups.

Check back every other day to pick up a new activity focused on a different character trait.

Sunday Savers ~ Introduction: Oct. 26th

Are you fan of saving money?
I am!
And that's just one of the many reasons I LOVE TPT!

So in the spirit of saving bundles of cash on my classroom resources, I wanted to start a little something that I thought would help you save money too.

My grandmother loves the Sunday paper because of those
coupon booklets that get shoved in the middle.

Loads of savings, she says.
Sunday Savers, she calls them.

And to keep the tradition going of saving cash on Sunday,
I'm creating my own Sunday Savers.

As much a possible, I'm going to slash the prices of one (...or two) of my products for 24 hours.
I don't know which products I'll choose, but check back on Sundays (I'll do my best to do every Sunday) and see what's on SALE or better yet...FREE!

This week....
I'm cutting the price of the

Instagram, Fire, and a FREEBIE!

Are you on Instagram?
If you are, come follow me @thetakehometeacher!

I've been on "Insta" (as one of my best friends calls it) for awhile but all my posts are private to protect my family.

But...I love connecting with people so I thought having an "Insta" for The Take Home Teacher would be a perfect way to do that.

- FIRE SAFETY ALERT -

I'm gearing up for Fire Safety Week (October 5-11) by making a reading and math pack for the little ones (read: Pre-K & Kindergarten).

We had such a great time last year learning about fire safety and while I used a good number of resources from TPT sellers, I had to fill in the blanks with sight word recognition, number recognition/touch counting, and some other skill standards. I put together some ROOUUGGH draft activities to hit those areas, but vowed to come back to them & clean 'em up.

Currently, I'm doing just that...
cleaning up those standards-based activities and wrapping them all up in one reading & math Fire Safety Pack. But until I get those all nice and neat, here's a preview of what you can expect to see:

Falling out of their heads

A couple years back in the land of second grade...

I'm not lying when I say I, literally, had 4 different kids loose teeth all in the same day.

Not quite sure what all was taught that particular day, because all I did was clean bloody mouths and try to wrangle small pearly chompers from their death grasps, so I could put them in snack baggies to send home.
I mean, don't they know objects (the size of a small push-in) are MOST DEFINITELY GOING TO GET LOST ON THE PLAYGROUND...no matter how careful they think they'll be.

But all bloody tissues and spit cups aside, watching the sheer joy spread across an 8 year old's face when another tooth comes flying out of his/her mouth is simply one of the best moments. Who can deny the simple happiness they experience...not me!

So, as another school year is getting under way, I thought I'd share this little token of "accomplishment" for those sweet friends who wiggle and jiggle those pearly whites until all they all fall out of their heads.

The More You Read

As everyone prepares/has prepared for the first day of school, I thought I'd share a little something I created for the reading area in a friend's classroom.
