Five for Friday: February 6th

Wow!
Just wow!
It's been a bit since I last linked up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her 5 for Friday linky party.

Pardon my absence.
I've been knee deep in snow.
LITERALLY!

So let's just do a real quick catch-up over the last month and this week.
Blizzard Juno came and went...not as bad as I expected.
But then his smaller friends just keep tagging along and bringing more snow/ice to the NE.

Spent the better part of January updating my HOP ON IT sight word games.
I like them SOOO much better now.
Check out my last blog post to learn more.

My sweet little dude is half way through his school year and is impressing me day by day. Got his first report card from Pre-K and, not to brag, but he pretty much rocks! Regardless of how well he did or didn't do, I LOVE THAT BOY MORE THAN HE'LL EVER KNOW.

Speaking of Pre-K, I made up this little ditty to help him with his numbers, counting, and number word recognition. I put it on my Facebook page as a 24 hour FLASH FREEBIE the other night, BUT I'm going to leave it up through tonight (FRIDAY) so you lovely people can grab it too. Hurray!

Lastly, I got a wild hair and decided to really go for it. I put together a blogger/TPT author meet-up in Providence (RI) for the end of the month! Posted it on Instagram and have already gotten a good number of people from CT, RI, and MA attending. If you are in the general area and wanna come join us, email me at thetakehometeacher@gmail.com

Ok friends, that's it, that's all. Next week will hopefully have more crafts (uh, Valentine's Day, duh). HAPPY FRIDAY!

A Week of Giving THANKS & 5 for Friday

To say I fell off the blogging bandwagon this past week would be an accurate statement.

I've been linking up with the ladies over at Blog Hoppin' for their A Week of Giving T.H.A.N.K.S. linky party and was doing quite well until Wednesday.

And now since its Friday and I try my best to link up with Kacey, over at Doodle Bugs Teaching, for her weekly Five For Friday linky, I'm going to make today's thoughts a TWO BIRDS, ONE STONE-kinda post

So here we go...
 Wednesday's letter was A so,
I'm super grateful for antibacterial products! Any teacher knows that washing hands (on the regular) is important to decreasing the chances of catching ______(fill in the blank), but when you're in elementary classrooms, it's ESSENTIAL. My poor hands are bone dry throughout the school year, but I don't care. My sick days are minimal and we all know it takes more work to be absent.

Thursday's letter was N so,
{Above notepads are Kate Spade}

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE notepads.
I mean it's kinda an obsession.
I almost never walk about of Office Max, Staples, or Target without a new notepad...or a few.
And if I log on to Etsy, I almost always end up with a notepad in my cart.
If you didn't know, Kacey (Doodle Bugs Teaching) has her own line of adorable paper products:

And today's letter is K so,
When I was younger, my mom would usually tell me to kill people with kindness when I felt I was being treated unfairly or in a mean manner. I didn't really understand why I should be so nice to people when I wasn't be treated in the same way, but thankfully that life lesson was learned. I do my best to pass that non-standards based lesson on to my students. Being nice to those that maybe aren't so nice to you isn't about be a punching bag for others, it's about rising above a behavior and emulating what our Savior, Jesus Christ, has demonstrated.
Kindness is our body's way of showing others what is in our hearts.

First linky complete...now on to the next.

 I've completed my latest product:
Here's a sneak peek...
And I've loaded it up onto TPT, but waiting to blog about it unit later.
Spending quality time with my guys this weekend.
I've been wanting to update my credits page for a long time.
When I say long time read A YEAR.
Well, I finally sat down on Wednesday and did just that.
This is the final product and it's a vast improvement over what I had.
We went to some friends' home for Thanksgiving yesterday for a potluck style gathering.
I volunteered for pies.
Toot, toot (that's me tooting my own horn).
Apple and Pecan from a Southern girl.

I'm putting my entire store on sale (20% off) this upcoming Monday & Tuesday for TPT's site wide Super Cyber Savings Sale. With the site's 8% discount, you can save 28% off ALL my products.
Remember to type in TPTCYBER at checkout...don't forget.
Get Ready! Go fill up those wish lists and carts.
Kacey is taking a mini-vacay from the 5 for Friday linky during December, so I'm going to follow suit and do the same. I hope you'll continue to follow my happenings (and upcoming FREEBIES) by following me on
and/or PINTEREST.

Five for Friday: November 7

This week has been slightly hectic so Five for Friday has turned into 5 for Saturday...oops!

Finally got my Veterans Day: History of Heroes finished, posted to TPT and the blog, and now I'm ready for next Tuesday.

My animals (chocolate lovin' dog and runaway cat) must think of me as Elmyra from Animanics...I can't come up with any other reason they act the way they do.

Tons of teacher bloggers swapped products, took them for a "test-drive", blogged about them, and now are giving them away to lucky winners.
It's live now so go check it out.
(Click here to read about my swap with More than Math by Mo)

We got our family pictures back.
Now to just find a Christmas card design that I like and doesn't break the bank.

(so happy its the weekend and I don't have a single thing planned...AMEN)

5 for Friday [Oct. 17]

This week was such a breath of fresh air...
I was able to bake, take my small guy to the Children's Museum with neighborhood friends, shop for and sell clothes. That's all on top of finishing up a couple of products for my TPT store all in preparation for Halloween!
* Come back this weekend to see these products detailed and listed on TPT!
Ultimate Death by Chocolate Brownie Cake
Really, the title itself makes me want to dive face first into this mound of deliciousness! I started the week off right by snooping around on my Pinterest food wall and finding this gem. My photo might not do it the justice it truly deserves, so go check out the Baby Gizmo blog recipe.

And since I was already at it, I whipped this yummy batch up too. It made a TON, so the neighbors were "gifted" some.  Check out the recipe on Your Cup of Cake's blog

 Two Boos!
Does your neighborhood participate in the Boo-ing fun? Two of my previous schools did, but I've never lived in a neighborhood that has. Until now...
Yes, I didn't get my sign up fast enough and got double Boo-ed in the same night. So, I had to double Boo to keep the fun going. What are some things you like to include in your Boo treats?
Time to Purge
Over the past few weeks, I've been purging the closets for a BIG women's consignment sale that is occurring here in my town this week(end).
I was able to pre-shop the sale last night (since I contributed as a consigner) and although I didn't refill my closest, I definitely am not going to make any money. And that's A-Okay with me!
If you don't like the idea of physically going to a consignment sale, but LOVE bargains, you should try ThredUp
Online consignment that makes bargain shopping a breeze...you ship them your old stuff, in a bag they provide, and shop from the comfort of your own couch!
Did you know that this week is 1/2 off Week at my TPT store
(for these 3 products)
Quite a few teachers have already snagged these BIG packs for 1/2 the price, but the sale is on until TOMORROW night (Oct. 18th). Go here to learn more or here to grab them before they return to full price.

Enjoy your weekend!
